Projection/ Reflection
As we go about our daily business we find ourselves looking outward toward people, places and
activities. That is how our eyes are created. That is how we are able to “see”. But what is really
happening is that our eyes are receiving vibrational frequencies being given off by the objects
and people around us. Those frequencies are then sent to our processing center, i.e. our brain
and our brain translates those vibrations into visual images we “see”. You are not really seeing
a tree, you are seeing the vibrational frequency of the tree.
That frequency connects to the program in our brain for “tree” and it generates an image of the tree in our minds. If you had never seen a tree in your entire life, someone would have to teach you what a tree is. I know this sounds far-fetched and irrational but it is a fact. I won’t go into the details. You can do your homework and look up how the brain works to create vision. A good example is eye witnessing.Three people can see the exact same incident, say an auto accident, and they will report three different descriptions, even down to the color of the automobiles.
Reflections Enhanced
So what does this have to do with projections and reflections? Well, when it comes to people
and behavior, it’s a whole different set of programs that recognize behavior as opposed to events.
Much more complex because now we are “seeing” what’s really invisible. We are “perceiving”
rather than “seeing”. When we observe a person, we are observing behavior, attitudes, tone of
voice, body language, facial expressions, and emotions. That’s a lot of information to take in at
one time. Some of this information may be positive; some of it may be negative. One person
may see it as no big deal and another may be shocked. What is happening?
Well, we have programs for that also. Our projection programs tune into the vibration an
individual is giving off. Then, our eyes, ears, and inner senses begin to interpret the information.
But how does it know what to interpret? That’s where it really gets weird. We can only take in
information based on the programming that has been installed through previous encounters.
For example, if we see someone frowning and we have been programmed that a frown means
danger, we will immediately become anxious and think that we are in danger. Our brain is doing
its job. However, if we begin to learn about perceptions, we begin to double check our program;
our thinking. This is where reflection comes in. We override our programming and make
ourselves stop and question. This is reflection. We may say to ourselves, “Wait, that person
is not threatening me. What is it in me that causes me to be afraid?” Now we look to our inner
selves to examine the programming to see if we need a newer version, an upgrade, for frowning.
Reflections Within
Another example of projection is if we encounter someone who makes us feel impatient.
Rather than react to the person, stop and ask yourself: “What is it in me that makes me feel
impatient about that behavior. This is when we begin to do our inner work and learn which programs we are running that are outdated, or even obsolete.
The same thing happens when we admire some behavior or attribute in another person. We are not aware that those same thing qualities exist within us, but we do not have the conscious
awareness to recognize or acknowledge those qualities in ourselves. They are there, otherwise, like the tree, we would not be able to recognize. You may say to yourself: “Oh, I could never do that.” But in fact, if you put the mirror up and look within yourself, you may begin to see that very quality in yourself. Maybe it manifests itself differently, but it is there, in your program, or you would not be able to see it in someone else.
This projection/reflection takes some time and practice. Instead of reacting to someone or something, stop and take a look inside. What is it in me that I cannot see, and what stops me from seeing it? Begin to live a life of reflection. Your inner world is the most important, and the only “real” world we live in. The rest is just an illusion we use to reflect back to us what we need to know about ourselves.
