PERCEPTION
How do we perceive? What is perception vs. observation? How to tell the difference? Does it
matter? These questions are just a few that we begin to experience when we make a conscious,
deliberate choice to look deeper within ourselves, beyond the chaos, to understand and
comprehend what the universe is showing us.
Observation
Observation is the act of seeing and experiencing ng life with our five senses: sight, sound,
touch, taste and smell. Perceiving is being able to look at an experience, situation, event, by
incorporating our heart, spirit and higher mind. It is not done simply by observing, but by
Looking deep within ourselves and asking: what is the meaning, the purpose of what we are
experiencing. We must look at the experience through the eyes of the divine within us.
In school, we learn the lesson and then we take the test to see what we have learned. In life, we
get the test first. Then we don’t get the lesson. The lesson is different for each of us. We must
use our perception to see beyond the chaos and discover what the lesson was that is specifically
for us.
Please understand. This is not as easy nor as simple as it sounds. It is not complex, but it can be complicated. The lesson is not complicated. We complicate it when we avoid perception. Why do we do this?
Because we are afraid of the outcome, the truth of what we have truly, deeply
experienced. What’s the reason we feel so much fear and dread? Because we don’t trust ourselves. We live under the false belief that we are not worthy or deserving of having a life we can enjoy instead of endure it.
Fear distorts, magnifies and intensifies truth. Truth can only be found by looking deeply within the experience and search for the true meaning it is conveying.
The Journey Continues
I would like to share part of my journey into perceiving, thereby discovering, the truth of who I
am. My mother had some mental health problems. Aa child I always wondered why I didn’t see
things the way my mother did. I thought I was crazy. I lived with that belief about myself most
of my life. I labeled it “child abuse”. On one level it was. But when I learned to perceive my
childhood experiences I began to recognize the lesson. My mother created her own reality
within her mind and that became her truth. Now, quantum science has confirmed that every one
of us creates our own reality by what we perceive, not just what we see. We must be willing to
look beyond our five senses to provide the understanding of what the universe wants us to learn.
I had to be willing to put the “abuse” aside to be able to perceive what was hidden deep within
the experience. Please understand. I am not minimizing child abuse. It is a serious problem that
must be addressed when it is discovered. But many times it goes undetected for years before an
individual is able to recognize and begin to resolve the trauma. But in order to do so, we must
find who we truly are, not what happened to us. We must learn to not let the physical
observation define us. In order to heal we must look deep within, heal the pain, hurt and fear to
discover who we truly are, not what happened to us.
A Hero’s Task
This is the journey of the hero. Heroes are reluctant to take on the task, whatever he sees it to be.
It is not until he recognizes the truth buried deep within the challenges he faces that he realizes
he was taking on the task of discovering himself.
We are not born damaged or defective. We are not born unworthy or undeserving. Yet, we are born out of divine love. Our heroes journey is to find that divine love within us and not get caught up in the chaos. We must learn to perceive life, not just observe it.
